Terms of Use
Version 1.0 — Last updated: 6 September 2026. Covers the OutingOwl service (beta).
In short
- OutingOwl suggests family outings and helps you share plans with families you already know.
- We do not run, supervise, vet or guarantee any activity, venue or family. You decide what is right for your kids.
- You are responsible for what you post and who you connect with.
- You can delete your account at any time and we delete your data with it.
- These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.
Who we are
OutingOwl is run under Aftos, operated by a solo Melbourne-based founder, as a small Australian business (outing-owl.com). You can reach us at agent-family@aftos.ai.
What OutingOwl is — and is not
OutingOwl is a planning tool. We collect publicly listed activities, check what we can (links, dates, prices) and suggest them to you based on what you tell us about your family. We may get things wrong: listings change, venues close, prices move. Always confirm details with the venue before you go.
We are not the organiser, host, operator or seller of any activity. Bookings, payments, tickets and what happens on the day are between you and the venue or operator. Some booking links earn us a small commission; this never changes which activities we show you first, and paid placements are always labelled.
Maps
The map view shows activities on a street map supplied by a third-party map provider (currently TomTom, credited on the map). Map data and the provider's credit are shown under that provider's licence, which you also accept by using the map.
- Pins are placed from venue addresses and suburb centres and may be approximate. Check the venue's own directions before you travel, and do not rely on the map for navigation.
- Map tiles are fetched from the provider's servers by your browser, so the provider receives your device's IP address and the map area you are viewing. We send it nothing else — no account details, no children's details, no search history.
- Some activities have no precise location and appear in a list beneath the map instead.
Your account
You must be 18 or older to hold an account. An account is for one household; you may share it with a partner or co-parent through the settings we provide. Keep your sign-in method (Google account or email) secure. You are responsible for activity under your account.
Connecting with other families
OutingOwl lets you invite families you already know into a "circle", see when you are both free, and propose outings together. When you do:
- You choose who to connect with. We do not introduce you to strangers, verify identities, run background checks or vouch for anyone.
- What you share with a circle (your free weekend slots, a plan, a note) is visible to the families in that circle. Sharing is always your choice and you can leave a circle at any time.
- Meeting other families, and any outing that follows, is arranged and supervised by the adults involved. OutingOwl is not present, does not supervise, and is not responsible for the conduct of any person or the safety of any outing.
- Social time. Marking a weekend slot as "up for company" shows that slot only to a circle where the other family has marked it too. Proposing an outing, and saying "I'm in", are invitations between adults; nobody is committed to anything until they book it themselves.
- Calendar connection. If you connect a calendar, we read free/busy time only — never event titles, guests or locations — and use it solely to shade your slots. You can disconnect at any time and we delete the stored connection. Use of Google Calendar is also subject to Google's terms.
- You can report or block any family from within the app, including before you accept an invitation. We may remove accounts that are abusive, misleading or unsafe, without notice.
What you may not do
Do not use OutingOwl to harass, impersonate, spam, scrape, resell listings, post content that is unlawful or harmful, or attempt to access other users' data or our systems. Invitations you forward to people outside OutingOwl are your message, not ours — only send them to people who will welcome them.
Community suggestions and reports
If you suggest an activity or report a problem, you give us a free, permanent licence to use, edit and publish that contribution. Suggestions are reviewed before they appear and we may decline them without explanation.
Availability and changes
OutingOwl is in beta. It may be unavailable, change, or end at any time. We may update these terms; we will show a notice in the app and the date above will change. Continuing to use OutingOwl after that means you accept the new terms.
Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded. To the extent the law allows, OutingOwl is provided "as is", and we are not liable for any loss arising from an activity, venue, booking, other user, or inaccurate listing. Where liability cannot be excluded it is limited, at our option, to re-supplying the service.
Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and why. It forms part of these terms.
Ending your account
You can delete your account from your profile at any time; we delete your data as the Privacy Policy describes. We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms.

Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. If we have a disagreement, email us first — most things can be fixed in a reply.
These terms are written in plain language and have not yet been reviewed by a lawyer. They will be updated as the product evolves.
